About EGIC Group
Manufacturing (Plumbing)
Egypt · Germany

In 1991, Egyptian German Industrial Corporate — EGIC — was established to introduce PP-R systems for water supply in the Egyptian market, then expanded to all reliable plumbing and sanitary products.

EGIC operates four top-class manufacturing facilities in Egypt plus one in Germany, producing water supply and drainage solutions from polypropylene, PVC, polyethylene and copper — under Bänninger, Kessel and Smart Home. One of the facilities is the largest copper foundry in the Middle East.

Through lean manufacturing and high-tech machinery supported by SAP control, EGIC's facilities are among the highest-efficient and certified in the Middle East.

Executive summary

EGIC wanted to upgrade its on-premises SAP landscape, retire ageing IBM Power servers running Oracle Database, and get onto SAP RISE / HANA on AWS — with the least possible disruption to a manufacturing operation that runs 24/7.

How Phoenix delivered

The approach.

  1. Phoenix built an AWS Transit Gateway in the EGIC AWS account and shared it with the SAP-managed AWS account.

  2. SAP attaches the VPC for the managed SAP service to the Transit Gateway; traffic flows through an entry in the route table.

  3. Traffic routing control stays inside the EGIC account.
